Tenure-Track Opening: Center for Labor Education and Research

LL
Leslie Lopez
Wed, Oct 25, 2023 10:57 PM

The Center for Labor Education & Research (CLEAR) at the University of
Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu (UHWO) is seeking a Labor Economist to join our labor
center established by Hawai'i State Statute in 1976. This is a permanent
tenure-track faculty position. We are also open to an ABD and added
"related fields" to include candidates doing labor-related research in
sociology or political science.

Ideally, we are hoping to find a candidate with research interest in
progressive political economic/labor analysis. Hawaii is the most unionized
state in the US in terms of union density. Because Hawaii is the most
unionized state, we are seeking labor research that would help the unions
in Hawai'i respond to the onslaught of traditional economists from the
business colleges

and local banks whose anti-union bias permeates local testimony without
informed challenges.

At present, the closing date is continuous, however, the hiring committee
will reconvene in early December.

Feel free to contact Leslie Lopez (lalopez@hawaii.edu) or William Puette (
puette@hawaii.edu) with any questions about the position.
