About the event

Seattle’s Office of Labor Standards https://www.seattle.gov/laborstandards
(OLS) is just over eight years old and has implemented approximately 20
labor laws representing protection, safety, and support for Seattle-based
workers. Examples include the Domestic Workers Ordinance, Grocery Employee
Hazard Pay, Minimum Wage Ordinance, App-based Worker Ordinance, and the
Paid Sick & Safe Time Ordinance. The OLS has also resolved cases against
employers that have recuperated millions of dollars for workers.

The OLS has different functions, and the work includes research and policy
analysis and comprehension, and navigating data sets employers are required
to supply to the OLS. The opportunities for collaboration with academic and
labor researchers to understand and unpack data as well as comprehend the
impact of these policies on working people are numerous.

More information, including presenters' bios, will be sent out shortly.

Please reach out to Rachel (rerstad@uw.edu) with any questions!
