Dear Fellow Labor Educators,

The University of Iowa Labor Center is hiring a labor educator to join our small but powerful team! Please help us share this position widely: https://phxc3c.rfer.us/UIOWAUlPT6z

Our wonderful fellow educator and friend Paul Iversen will be retiring on June 30, 2026, after 16 years of sharing his passion, experience, and wisdom with workers across Iowa and the nation. Paul had worked as a labor and employment attorney in private practice for 22 years prior to joining the Labor Center. While we celebrate Paul's well-deserved retirement, we will dearly miss his presence and legal expertise in our tight-knit team.

This position will join a collaborative and effective team that conducts over 100 noncredit classes and leadership schools each year for local, regional, and national unions and worker justice organizations. We hold programs on-campus and in off-campus community locations in Iowa and occasionally across the region. This position requires a J.D.; the candidate selected for this position will conduct classes on labor and employment law, as well as other policy and labor leadership topics. The UI Labor Center is a dynamic program that enjoys strong support from unions and community partners across our state and region. In addition to our labor education programs, we lead the state's first Quality Pre-Apprenticeship Program and we serve as a hub for launching innovative collaborations such as an Organizers' Roundtable, a labor climate alliance, a monthly statewide immigration and labor series, NextGen leadership programming, and workers' center/community-based worker justice initiatives. We are based in Iowa City, a charming college town with excellent public schools. In a small, rural state, our program plays a critical role in providing educational support for local union officers, stewards, bargaining teams, health and safety committees, and community partners.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Paul Iversen paul-iversen@uiowa.edumailto:paul-iversen@uiowa.edu or Robin Clark-Bennett robin-clark-bennett@uiowa.edumailto:robin-clark-bennett@uiowa.edu.

In Solidarity,

Robin Clark-Bennett
