UALE Southern Women's School
This year’s school was small but truly mighty!
Sponsored by the leadership and members of IBEW Local 553 in Raleigh/Durham, NC, the school took place at the Avila Center for Community Leadership. The workshops focused on the leadership skills and
opportunities that women have to make a difference in their local union, their workplaces, and their communities. They included Basic Unionism, Grievance Handling, Effective Leadership, Our Bodies – Our Minds, and Saving Democracy. One of the most impactful sessions was a panel on Organizing the South. The women heard from
women who are organizing in the electrical industry, public schools in Virginia, C.A.U.S.E. (Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity and Empowerment), and the Duke University Graduate Students Union. It was a fantastic school!

UALE Northeast Summer School for Women in Unions & Worker Organizations
This year, UMass Amherst hosted the 47th Annual UALE Northeast Summer School for Women in Unions and Workers Organization. Using Ella Baker as its inspiration, this year's theme was "We who believe in freedom". Attended by over 130 individuals from organizations across 9 states and 4 countries, siblings came together to learn about everything from basic labor movement history and leadership skills to the dangers of authoritarianism and Project 2025. Participants came together and shared their aspirations for the labor movement and how to bring their plans to fruition. Siblings even organized on-campus action in conjunction with local unions to advocate for increased childcare on campus for faculty, staff, and students. Petitions were circulated and a march was held, ending with a rally outside the office of the Chancellor. Sisters and siblings left with a feeling of inspiration and knowledge that "We who believe in freedom cannot rest until it comes."
