Friends, It is with great sadness that I pass on to those who may not have heard yet that our dear labor educator, labor leader brother Kent Wong passed away recently. Under his leadership, the UCLA Labor Center became a dynamic hub of organizer training and liberatory education, of central importance to the Los Angeles labor movement and immigrant and people of color communities. He was a founder and first president of both the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) and the United Association for Labor Education (UALE). He wore his leadership mantle lightly - he was outgoing, supportive and a good friend and mentor to many. I especially remember his endless work on behalf of the Dreamers, including touring to our program with a book of their testimonies he helped produce. This was exemplary work.
