I¹m working with some colleagues in Canada who are facing conservative
politicians seeking to promote right-to-work and paycheck deception type
legislation. Any suggestions on good, recent studies showing the downside
of this type of legislation on the state economies.

Check out the Florida statute on collective bargaining that declares that unions do NOT have to represent freeloaders and if they want arbitration, they pay for it! Ruth

Dr. Michael Kelsay from the UMKC Economics Department did a study last winter on Missouri prevailing wage economic costs and benefits that's overwhelmingly positive. This is an update of a 2004 study. Both have contributed greatly in stopping attempts to repeal Missouri's prevailing wage law. This year, he also covered right to work with the same kind of analysis. His study shows using entirely legitimate tools of economic analysis that right to work is bad for the economy.
I tried to send this yesterday but it was too big for this list. So I cut the study down to the essentials on right to work and put it on Drop Box. You can get it at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/45823417/Kelsay-RTWsections%20of%20PrevWageReport%20Dec%2013%202011.pdf I'll leave it up for a couple of weeks. If you want a copy of the entire 160+ page study on prevailing wage, email me.
