On behalf of Michael Hillard, please check out this amazing job opportunity to be part of starting a labor center from the ground up!
Dear Labor Community,
I am writing to highlight our search (at the University of Southern Maine) for a teaching fellow position for the new Charles Scontras Center for Labor and Community Education The teaching fellow will lead curriculum development for the center and be a lead instructor coordinating instruction in collaboration with the Center’s director.
The Scontras Center is funded by a legislative appropriation that must be periodically renewed; it is located in the population center of southern Maine, and it will have a staff that includes a director, teaching fellow, full time outreach organizer and staff person plus a soft budget for programming and related activities. You can apply at this link:

The Center's plan is to build a movement-building labor education model that will provide mostly tuition free education to the entire southern Maine working class, along with working with social justice groups, worker centers, and unions. The center will focus heavily on the unorganized, especially Maine's burgeoning immigrant community.
The position requires either a Ph.D. in a labor related field or an MA plus extensive labor education experience.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the position at mhillard@maine.edumailto:mhillard@maine.edu.
Please distribute widely and encourage any and all you may know who might have an interest in this position to apply. The deadline for applying is currently May 9 but we expect to extend the deadline to May 15.
In solidarity, Michael Hillard (Temporary Coordinator, Scontras Center)
